We arrived in Nicaragua on the 13th! We had to quarantine for our first few days at REAP Granada. It turned out to be a sweet time of resting in the Lord. The farm at REAP is the most beautiful place and the people are kind and have been serving us really well. While we came in expecting to start ministry right away, we have been forced to stop and slow down. It has allowed time for community, enjoying Nicaraguan food, resting, and setting new rhythms. At REAP, they wake up every weekday morning at 5 am for prayer. This has been an adjustment for sure, but has become something I enjoy a lot now.

We were also able to spend time learning from Scott, our ministry host, about REAP’s mission. They really focus on the Great Commandment and how we must serve others out of an overflow of love for the Lord. Their mission verse is 2 Corinthians 5:14, “For the love of Christ compels us.” We must first receive love from the Lord and love Him before we can love others well. Because we couldn’t start ministry right away, our first week here was a good reminder that His love for us is not based on what we do for Him.

We had our first week of ministry this past week and have spent time prayer walking, doing VBS, making hospital visits, doing manual labor, doing dump ministry, and speaking at micro-churches. It has been a privilege to be apart of what the Lord is already doing here at REAP. The community and love among these people is a beautiful thing to be apart of. It has been amazing to witness the generosity of the Nicaraguans to each other and to us. My favorite thing we have done has been manual labor here on the farm. We get to work alongside of the locals and it has been so much fun. After working for a couple hours outside, we sat down and shared testimonies with one another. They are not only generous with their things, but also their time and stories. It is evident that they value people over tasks and it has been so sweet to develop friendships with the workers here.

Well, it has been a month since I have left home. I am so grateful for this experience so far and am excited for what’s to come. I am thankful that the Lord has led me to this place at this time.

All for His glory,
